Homeowners at a new estate in Nottingham say they are ‘extremely frustrated and annoyed at the lack of care for their new-build homes. That’s where home snagging companies can help.
reports that one resident at the Forest Reach development in Forest Town had been poorly decorated, glass panels in internal doors had been scratched, and areas of the four-bedroom detached property had been left unpainted.
Homeowner Claire Rice also said that the family had to spend over £1,000 to landscape the garden as it had been flooded and that she would like housebuilder Harron Homes to rectify the outstanding issues.
“Absolutely nothing has been done to anything. I don’t think you can print swear words but I’m extremely peed off, extremely frustrated and annoyed,” she said.
“The most frustrating thing is we have still not had any works done to date, they have used COVID as an excuse not to come.”
She added that the family purchased the property because the housebuilder was supposed to be a ‘high-end’ developer, and while the property was well-built, it isn’t a luxury home due to the poor installation of luxury fittings and features.
After paying £250,000 for the home, the family moved in last November and began finding issues almost immediately.
“They just turfed it [the garden] from literally every boundary right up to the house, they laid grass right up to the brickwork of the house. And the garden sloped only very slightly towards the house. So obviously every time it rained it gathered outside,” she explained, adding that there was no drainage, and the garden became ‘boggy’ due to regular flooding.
A spokesperson for Harron Homes North Midlands said the business was impacted by the pandemic, delaying contractors who would have been able to rectify issues much sooner otherwise.
“Our customer care team is working closely with Mrs Rice to resolve any remaining issues and ensure her home is to the quality we hold ourselves to,” they said.
